Soil Resistivity Test Services In India

Bhoojal Survey team conducts field survey for Soil resistivity testing also known as Earthing Test Soil resistivity test are conducted using Resistivity instrument through Wenner method as per IS 3043 Standards.

What Is Soil Resistivity Testing?

Soil resistivity test determine low resistivity zone for design of grounding system, Earthing systems. On the basis of field data collected and earthing test report generated type of grounding design system i.e Electrode earthing , Chemical Earthing can be determine .

The earthing test results are used to ensure that the electrical system is correctly grounded and that any fault currents that may develop can be safely discharged. Fault currents can arise when there is a short circuit or other electrical fault in the system, and these currents can pose a major safety danger if there is no properly working grounding system.

Procedure for Soil Resistivity Test-:

The Wenner 4 Probe test is one of the most common soil resistivity testing methods. In Geo Explorations earthing test is carried out by Wenner Method, as per IS Code 3043-1987.

To perform soil resistivity test four probes of copper or metal rod are inserted into earth surface at equal distances to approximate the depth of the soil to be tested. Typical spacing’s will be 1m, 1.5m, 2m, 3m, 5m, 10m etc., with each spacing increasing from the preceding one by a factor of approximately 1.5.

The resistivity meter or multi-meter is connected using wire to the electrodes. The meter should be connected to the current electrodes and the potential electrodes. The resistivity meter will measure the resistance between the current electrodes and the potential electrodes.

Why Testing the Soil Resistivity Important?

Soil resistivity testing is important for a range of applications, including commercial and industrial electrical systems, as well as residential electrical systems. It is also essential for facilities that handle large amounts of electrical energy, such as power plants and data centers.

Regular earthing testing is crucial to maintaining the safety and reliability of electrical systems. It helps identify potential issues before they can cause a safety hazard, and it ensures that the system is functioning properly and efficiently. Bhoojal Survey has successfully conducted soil resistivity test work for design of electrical grounding systems
